The term “boardroom” comes from the meeting place for the board of directors of a company, a group of people selected by shareholders to lead the corporation. It is crucial to know the distinction between a boardroom and a conference room as they serve different purposes for businesses. A boardroom is an official space where decisions of a high level are taken, whereas a meeting room is more casual setting for collaboration.

A proper boardroom should contain tables large enough to seat all the members present, and should be set in a location which encourages privacy.
